Continuing my revisit of the 'Lab catalogue I've gotta say that this album has aged exceptionally well, probably their finest straight up 'pop' release. The deluxe package is handsome as usual and the sound is great, but again my gripes with the second disc continue...especially with this one that is only 18 minutes long. They maybe wouldve been qualmed if they'd included the studio version of Long Life Love (the bside that made me a Stereolab fan) but alas, at least it's here in demo form. Seeing as how a CD boxset collecting all the Switched On comps was released last year and (last but not least) the Groop released an all new studio album on Warp this year I will assume a proper reissue of all their single Bsides is forthcoming...yes, believe it or not even of you buy all the deluxe editions and the Switched On box you will still not own them.

Edited 21 days agoThe soundstage has been altered from the original release and do I detect the presence of a noise floor!? The sound is clean and detailed but everything has been brought to the fore. Can it be that these have been manipulated digitally to sound more like vinyl? Nice packages, to be sure, and probably worth it just for the additional CD.
