As hard trance really took over at most of the clubs by 1994/95 they sometimes started adding some GOA and verging on PSY. Which to me, PSY became to digital, too clean and often lost the techno edge as well as the ambient parts that helped make 1992-1994 trance special. While this indeed lost the ambient side, Octopus still held on to the rave spirit. It has some killer changes and relishes in the spirit of techno. The melodic sounds, percussion and rave siren also add to the intense changes and dynamic energy the cut has. Indeed, one of the last good ones. By 1996 trance lost its edge. Ironically, helped led by the same label this track was also on (Robert Miles - Children).

This is the zenith of Trance. It was all downhill from here.

If you want to hear the track Octopus taken to the next level listen to the Man with no name remix for a very cosmic and trippy Goa Trance overlay.
