This album, just like it's predecessor, Phantom Power marked a pivotal point in the sound for The Tragically Hip. This album introduces a bit of a more main-stream, open sound, and a more experimental type of rock not heard from The Hip before. This works in their favor however, and it gives us some great tracks like Tiger The Lion and Toronto 4. I think that even if you jump 3-4 albums further in their discography, you'd be able to hear some of the changes and creative direction they took on this album on that one. in a way, this album is a nice closing to their more traditional sound (referencing the later 90's, like Trouble At The Henhouse & Phantom power) and also an introduction to what would stick with them through the rest of the 2000's, as well as carried into the 2010's.
