Edited 2 months agoHands down the best way to hear this album. Songs like "Stay" and "Toronto #4" become so much more alive with a great amount of dynamicity and presentation. Noticeably less compressed compared to the CD. Nothing short of phenomenal.

This album, just like it's predecessor, Phantom Power marked a pivotal point in the sound for The Tragically Hip. This album introduces a bit of a more main-stream, open sound, and a more experimental type of rock not heard from The Hip before. This works in their favor however, and it gives us some great tracks like Tiger The Lion and Toronto 4. I think that even if you jump 3-4 albums further in their discography, you'd be able to hear some of the changes and creative direction they took on this album on that one. in a way, this album is a nice closing to their more traditional sound (referencing the later 90's, like Trouble At The Henhouse & Phantom power) and also an introduction to what would stick with them through the rest of the 2000's, as well as carried into the 2010's. -

One thing not noted is that many of the us releases had the cover chopped not square ...it is slanted...LOL. but..fantastic album for those who enjoy Canadian alt rock and the Hip. -
What a treat on vinyl…. With More detail, presence, depth and a more enjoyable listening experience than digital. (Even though it’s most likely sourced from)
Underrated album. -
Their most underrated record, imo. Certainly their most experimental. This sounds amazing on wax. Was particularly struck by the drum sound on “Wild Mountain Honey.”
