When most people think of the "Halloween Theme," they probably think of a variation of the one first round here: Alan Howarth introduced the stuttering rhythm underneath John Carpenter's now-iconic synth melody, and the ultimate version of the theme was born. "Laurie's Theme" is also stellar here, even with the ending sounding like something from Carpenter's score for The Fog. Unfortunately most of the rest of the first side is variations of those two themes, but Side B does offer much more variation. Between putting on this or the score for Carpenter's original film, I'm honestly probably going to pick this one.
As for the pressing, it's quiet and flat. I've listened to my copy maybe a dozen or so times and it sounds fantastic every single time I put it on.

How is it that Mondo/Deathwaltz can have such hit and miss releases and then this one sounds absolutely perfect? Hopefully they go back and just keep working with whoever was responsible for this wonderful pressing!
