Notes

The tracklisting on the back cover wrongly lists three tracks but the vinyl only includes two: the Peshay Remix of 'Inner City Life' and 'Sea Of Tears' which is the same mix as on the CD of 'Timeless'. The sleeve also incorrectly indicates that tracks A 1&2 are engineered by Photek although there's no track A2.

Is the B-Side actually a Peshay Remix? I'm going with no as I can't find any info. Peshay did remix Inner City Life and the white labels of this release show it as Inner City Life (Peshay Remix) with Sea Of Tears on the flip.

I have to agree with EKM's review below. The real reason for buying this release is the B side. Sea of Tears blew me away when I first heard the Timeless CD upon release. I'm still tracking down all the tracks from the black double CD release, but on vinyl, hence the reason for buying this. Along with the tracks Kemistry and Jah the Seventh Seal, Sea of Tears is right up there with the best of the great man's releases. Emotional, frenetic, dark, intelligent, sublime. I could go on but you get the idea. Superb release from the giant of the West Midlands. Sheer class.

This has to be in your jungle top ten! This was so cutting edge in 1995 , infact that album is well named, he knew what he was doing.

            Concerning the B Side:

This tune (Sea Of Tears) is quite possibly Goldie's greatest work, even over Inner City Life. The tune begins off with some incredibly epic dark-sounding pad work, then adds some excellent guitar work by Adam Salkeld. The drums soon kick in in a very unusual manner that emphasizes live playing over sampled breakbeats. After a good five minutes, everything drops out, leaving only the sounds of the waves and the dolphins (or some sort of squelchy animal). A woman then ask 'What are you doing here', which is anwsered by a child saying 'Washing away the tears'. Adam Salkeld's guitar work then come back in in some very intelligent cord design. Lorna Harris' vocals mgradually work their way back into the song, which is followed by sampled breakbeats and a very heavy 808. Throughout the remainder of the tune, Lorna Harris' very convincing crying and at some times sobbing adds to an incredibly deep amount of emotional content. Not for a second does this tune become boring, or even seem to drag on. It is the most emotional of Goldie's tunes, and deserves a lot more than it is ever given credit for. Don't bother picking up the 12", though; opt for the Timeless CD instead.
