This sounds amazing! Packaging is top notch, production on the album is great. Certainly a reference level album! Add it! Playing on a vintage Phillips 312 turntable with a nagaoka mp 200 cartridge, onkyo tx 4500 receiver into klipsch kg 4.5's.

Excellent sound quality, my copy plays great! Packaging is also top notch, love the booklet! Very pleased, definitely worth snagging at the prices it’s currently going for!

My copy suffers from constant loud crackling surface noise distortion. It's present on all sides and is clearly heard on all quiet ages. I tried to clean it several time in my Hannl RCM but it made zero difference. I'll try another copy but I have my doubts about the pressing quality-- despite being pressed at Pallas! As a Beck album I find the music pretty subpar for an artist of this stature-- kind of like a check the boxes to fulfill my record contract obligations kind of an effort. I never find myself wanting to listen to the whole thing as an album-- there are just too many throwaway tracks IMO.

Had both the yellow and now this, this blows the other pressing out of the water imo. This is hands down one of the best quality vinyl I have ever listened to! Crisp, clean, punchy with the bass.
This album rocks too, great upbeat feel good album. -
Edited 7 years agoBeck is Back and not in Black. I'm on my first listen so just an observation in time.
Funny how the dude has made so many transitions through the years musicwise even if his hallmark songwriting always shine through. I'm not fond of Rock music but found the Beck - Morning Phase 60s/70s pastiche somber and soothing but this album sees Beck back on a bounce. Unduly happy? Nice package/art as well. My favourite era (and I'm not familiar with his entire output, true) is the Guero/Guerolito/Information tracks. I for one am happy that he just goes wherever it pleases him even if Bob Dylan huggers and hipsters don't embrace his every move, like this jerky pop.
These days it seems like a lot of major artists construct pricey objects so my only constant gripe with Beck is the Information vinyl box. I just can't see myself shell out that kind of money for any album.
Ps. I find the album a little short, so I guess you could say that I want more Colors. Thanks Beck! -
I played mine once, it sounded absolutely perfect from start to end, I mean in of pressing quality anyway because the music, at times, made me close to uncomfortable, like watching a dad jiggling about to his teenage son's music library, or an old friend's regress to childish state, or, I dunno, seriously, almost as bad as a late 90's dance pop Tom Jones made me cringe too. The production is heavily compressed and the songs are my idea of what makes cheerleaders jump up and down NFL fields (I'm French so I wouldn't know). I'd swap this diabolically overpriced package if I could without hesitations.

Yet to purchase this album so the following question is very important. Is the 2 LP 45 rpm pressing superior enough to the single yellow LP pressing to justify the big price difference?
-
I agree. After all those setbacks and constant delays this album feels rather anticlimactic. There are a few highlights here and there, but overall this set of songs is hardly the best example of his songwriting, isn't it? Nevertheless, great package! This is a deluxe version indeed! Good sound as well. Certainly livelier than the digital version that comes across as weirdly sterile.
-
Nice set but as a long time Beck fanboy this album could not be more disappointed, most of the songs are flat out generic and disposable.
