Notes
The runout areas contain identical matrix numbers to the European 2xLP reissue (Radiohead - Kid A). The two versions can be distinguished by the following characteristics:
1. Back cover: On this version the XL Recordings logo is placed over a white field. On the other version the logo is placed partially over a row of trees.
2. Inner sleeve for 2nd LP: This version states "Printed in NA." The other version states "Printed in the EU."
3. Labels: This version does not indicate a location of manufacture. The other version states "Made in the EU."
Comes in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves.
Includes digital card for MP3 or WAV.
A hidden track is found on side "Delta" after a period of silence following the track "Motion Picture Soundtrack".
The track 'Idioteque' contains two samples from the Oddyssey label title 'Various - Electronic Music Winners' (1976). The two compositions sampled are Paul Lansky's 'Mild Und Liese' published by Grim Tim Music and 'Short Piece' by Arthur Kreiger published by the Subito Music Corporation. Both samples are used with the kind permission of the composers and the Sony Music Corporation.

Edited 9 days agoI have a Realistic STA-76A with all new electrolytics in the audio path and an MCS6602 turntable using an AT71 cartridge, and two Bose 301 Series III speakers. Nothing special. My copy of this album sounds really good. Balanced, huge soundstage, beautiful bass frequencies, and very lively in the high end detail. Recommend.

Horrible no fill on the first side that causes static in the right channel on the first track. Mastering is pretty great but there's that and the fact that this is a bit of a noisy pressing.
3/5 -
Regarding locked groove vs non-locked groove at end of side A: I see 2 slightly different runout etching variants listed here on Discogs for these 2016 North American and European Union pressings.
For the EU pressing, the runouts listed do NOT have a side indication after the XLLP code etching. They all end in just 82B on each side.
For the NA pressing, the runouts listed DO have a side indication after the XLLP code etching. They end in 82B-A, 82B-B etc.
On my copy, which is a NA version, the runouts do NOT have a side indication after the XLLP code etching (all sides just end in 82B) and it DOES have locked groove at end of side A.
Could it be that the ones that don't have that side indication have the locked groove, while the ones that have that side indication don't have the locked groove? We would need others with the side indication (or without the locked groove) to chime in with the following info: side indication in runout / locked groove status / NA or EU

Edited 5 months agoMy copy of this release sounds amazing. I have a quite a revealing system: Brinkmann Balance and full range speakers and I don’t have the pops and crackles and the soundstage is very big.
-
Outrageous surface noise.
Not even sure if a deep clean can help this.
Ya payz yer money, ya take yer chances. -
My copy is a bit noisy. However, the mastering is very good: huge soundstage with great instrument separation and vocals.
-
Not a great sounding album especially compared to my other Radiohead stuff I am on a dual turntable with a staton cartridge and stylus. I have a Sansui AU 11000 amp with JBL speakers. The sound really seems held back
