I was only ever a mild fan of Death when this album came out. I liked the music but it never had quite the impact that other metal bands of the era had like Carcass and Morbid Angel.
So I was hesitant to give this release a go. I decided to jump in based on the reviews here and I am really impressed. I've never heard the band so powerful and "metally" before. This is awesome!
The vinyl itself is flat and the packing suits the release. I just wish the inner sleeve was of better quality.
If this is any indication what the Relapse Records reissues of the Death albums is like, I will be buying more of them. -
Edited 5 years agocover is thin and soft with mistake on the letter D. Im not fan of this cover but insert is nice.
sound is brilliant, perfect drums and bass, clear vocal. Everything great. I love it. -
Excellent sound quality on this. Fans of this album will not be disappointed, the Death logo on the front has a printing mistake on the letter D though it looks like they painted a portion black where it should have been red,Oh well. The insert is nice with lyrics, photos, etc the center labels on the vinyl itself are nice too. \m/ RIP Chuck, still appreciating your legacy brother!!

Awesome pressing of my favorite DEATH album and my favorite death metal album of all time! To me Human is the best because it was the first death metal album I heard where the brilliance of the genre finally clicked with me and I understood how good metal, death metal in particular, could sound with a group of individually talented players who together form an amazing chemistry together that's even greater than the sum of its parts. It perfectly combines the best of fast heavy old school death metal riffage with the progressive technique and mind expanding compositions to straddle the line of the best of both worlds. Memorable songs and intricate musicianship it is seriously the best of the best! The opening drum rolls and fills by Sean Reinert on "Flattening Of Emotions" is one of the greatest moments in all of music and brilliantly kicks the album off and starts things off with a bang! Even the great Gene Hoglan (who would eventually the band replacing Reinert behind the drums) said that once he heard Sean's performance on this album at a house party that he was utterly blown away, to quote Gene "I knew from that point on the bar for all drummers in the metal realm had just been raised, I turned to the person nearest to me and said Man, I'm glad I'll never have to be in that band!"
