This is my featured vinyl for this week on my blog, A.D.R.E.W. (A Different Record Every Week) link below...

      https://decsloan.wixsite.com/adrew/post/elaenia

The concept is simple - to share a new record from my vinyl collection every week along with a short review including, my favourite track, a suggested listening environment, info on the pressing I own and further related recommendations. My aim is to get more people listening to albums again, the way they were intended to be played.

Some serious 'Graphic design is my ion' vibes on this one.

Does anyone have the Rough Trade Album of the Month listening notes mentioned in the Notes section above?

My copy has random bursts of distortion due to non-fill. Didn't look too closely at the deadwax, but assuming this was pressed at Optimal, since basically every album I own that is pressed by them as non-fill issues.

my copy is riddled with distortion and surface noise even after having cleaned it at least 4X. i bought my copy right when it came out and there were no reviews. Based on the below maybe i need to just pick up another copy. it's a shame because i never listen to it because of the quality but the music is A+ like everyone has said.

I just received my copy which I purchased in Amazon US at US$22.99. It’s not completely flat but is dead quiet.

This will be considered a ground breaking album in 20+ years and hard to find i suspect. A true masterpiece from a guy with a PhD in Neuroscience no less. The way the tracks are orchestrated; analogue synths intertwined with instruments is truly remarkable. I'm glad i managed to find the US version pressed at Pallas, . Overall a lovely, clear, warm analogue sound with virtually no surface noise. A real treasure in my collection.

This came out of left field for this listener. Never heard of FP but living in America its no surprise as the music pushed is of the lowest variety. Picked up this disc at some local store used and was quite impressed at the variety of music. There is real drumming and real instrumentation sprinkled in with what my ears sense is mostly well supplanted analog electronica tweaking along with a smattering of jazzy Fender Rhodes.
The music taps the minimalist genre ie Terry Riley, Glass etc as well as the math rock ie Tortoise styles of instrumental posturing.
Not a bad or unlistenable track on this debut and the quieter tracks are lovely mellow vignettes of electronica soothing as the warmth of spring morning.

Anyone else’s have a round blue hype sticker that reads:

“the debut album from floating points! “Very, Very creative…. Thus sounds good — a really clean sound. IMDb like to meet him some day” - Pharoah Sabders on Elenia
