This is one of the finest reissues I own and it gets just about everything right, down to the finest detail. Just like everything put out by Numero Group this is a true labor of love which collects and details the history of an almost forgotten gem from music history. The packaging is stunning with an attractive 190 page book giving detailed historical context to these recordings and possibly the coolest cover art design I own. I don't think there has been a week I haven't listened to at least some of the music from this box set since I discovered it. A true essential for all NYC punk fanatics, one of the very first indie labels compiled and remastered all here for your listening pleasure. Everything I've come across from Numero Group has opened my eyes to another unturned page in music history and this release is my absolute favorite thing in their catalog.

There are parts of music history I wish I could fully immerse myself in so I could experience the time period, the environment, and culture that produced these important movements. The downtown New York Punk and No-wave era is one such place. This Numero Group collection from Ork Records is a great keepsake from that time and place. I can't say that this collection brings me any closer to the realities of that scene, but it does provide the unique sonic texture and urgent emotional storytelling that defines the brand of nicotine and beer stained atmosphere it belongs to. The “Ork Records: New York, New York” vinyl collection is well crafted, and the audio is a good representation of the originals. Surprisingly all vocals and instruments including bass are completely accessible in the sound picture. I don't think the sound stage was meant to represent a rich 3D audiophile space. Instead, the audio space is compact and as flavorful as a stick of baseball trading card chewing gum, but the compactness of the music is a feature that is part of its own culture—short, sharp, and as on point as a ballpoint pen. This is a zeitgeist captured in vinyl which can't be touched or experienced again except through sound, so dear reader, the sound you get is the sound you get, it’s the sound of the times.

This is a serious labor of love done with as much care as conceivable and the package is heavy as hell because it's all made so well -- the book is a 12" x 12" hardbound monster and probably worth most of the ission price alone

Yeah, this is so good. Awesome selections, great pressing, the book is incredibly well done. What a package.
