Orbital – Orbital

A few missing elements from this set (like the original Omen etc) but all in all this is an amazing collection! The booklet is gorgeous and the live CD really stands out from the pack. It's going to be fun to see Orbital's back catalogue be released like this over the years. :)

Why is there almost always a problem with splatter pressings ? Vinyl 2 which has the best music on it is sounding excellent but vinyl 1 side A has lots of pops and ticks - side B has in the start of the track a small spot. I cannot get it washed away... so has to be also pressing issue. I paid 50 euro for it - which is kinda too much anyway because they pressed i think 1000 of these.... Well... it's a classic anyway... music is top notch and I am happy to have it on vinyl - but I can hit myself to the head because I had to buy the 4lp instead (BOX) - hahaha - but ... it wasnt announced or clear to me it was available too.. well... Conclusion: music = 5/5 nostalgic and the pressing 2/5. If you doubt buying this; i would buy the black one instead of this one. Maybe that one is better... mostly black is...

Quiet, flat, fantastic sounding. A worthy addition to anyone's collection.

Can anyone comment on how this pressing SQ compares to the UK 1st press EMI "Simon Exchange" pressing?

Amazing, great quality release and signed print was a sweet bonus! Though what I found most surprising was how it was shipped to me (D2C), in this plastic-wrap/cardboard setup where they can slip it between the two, and bend the cardboard to apply light tension with the plastic, and cleverly keeps it from banging around while shipping and adds a good protective edge. Box arrived a bit banged up at first glance, but the box set was pristine, no exaggeration. Like I had just grabbed it off their shelf and bought it overseas.

I hoped the 2024 cut would relieve me of wearing my 2015 cut out but alas this is the superior version.... much quieter background, more dynamic, less compression and no midbass bloatyness.

I am not that impressed tbh. Not really a remastering, mostly just a re-loudening. Circa 4 to 5db louder throughout and with a midbass lumpyness ive not suffered before which might be welcome to those with modern dry lean systems but not rich, warm, beautiful sounding ones like my own. It remains an essential Orbital album along with In Sides but it remains their rawest produced and it shows now. The pressing qualities are not very good either but thats GZ for you. I distinctly prefer the playback quality of the 2015 cut ive got which avoids the overblown upper midbass lumps here

Sound quality on this is outstanding. Where discogs reviews become a loop.

Finally resolved my years' long battle with Orbital's color-blindness over the title of this one. All the pre-orders said it was "green" PVC to match the "Green Album," but thankfully it's clear yellow PVC compound which actually matches the (not green) album cover. It's yellow, damn it!!!!
