This album could really use a remaster. Can't speak for the vinyl, but the CD has issues. Of course it's live, so it won't be perfect, but the performances are fine. The problem is the audio levels from track to track.
Through both discs, the volume is all over the place. Dynamics are fine, especially in ambient, but "Towers Of Dub" shouldn't be 10db louder than "Blue Room" right after it. If you set a good level at the start, "A Huge Evergrowing..." will sound so quiet by the time you get to it. ReplayGain might help, but why should I have to do that?
It's not unlistenably bad, but they really should've known better when mastering this. It's harder to sit back and relax with The Orb, when you're always reaching for the volume knob. -

Valley is a bit shorter here compared to the UK 2xCD, the "Do you want number 77?" sample has been edited out.
Also, the US version is louder. Doesn't seem remastered, but just that they gave a gain boost overall, which causes tracks like Little Fluffy Clouds to clip pretty bad. -

i love this record. this is one of my all time favourites, probably the best orb vinyl record for me. yes, i do not like that of all 8 sides the one with little fluffy clouds is the quietest. I do not understand why so low volume level comparing to the other sides. Nevertheless, apart from it - perfect pressing. I am lucky to have bought it in mint condition -

Absolutely top draw live ambient techno album from The Orb featuring a whole host of early classics. Great mastering on the discs with wide soundstage and deep rumbling bass. Others here have remarked about disc rot or disc discoloration but mine look and play great. Tune in and drop out... -

Could this be the first live album from an electronic music artist? It seemed that way back in 1993. Great segue ways and transitions between these shows, which are now popping up in full, but poorer quality on YT. Probably the best versions of Little Fluffy Clouds, Towers Of Dub and Assassin available to this date, though some parts do drag.
A great sound system helps, since the quality was analog, not from a digital recording. Great to put on if you can't decide between the first two albums, or need the ultimate come down. -

Interesting that this has never been reissued on CD or LP since the late '90s. Given that their other Island albums have had the deluxe CD treatment as well as vinyl reissues, this is a bizarrely glaring omission. -

The sound quality on this is really, really, bad. As compared to all the originals, this sounds like a standard sub-standard bootleg and I can't stand listening to any of it.
I knew this when I purchased it, as I'm a die-hard Orb fan since the 1st album, but, not only was the sound even worse than I had ed, the UK eBayer only sold me 3 of the 4 discs - the inner was there, but still no 4th record - and was utterly unimpressed when I wanted at least a partial refund " I told you it was in a quite used condition".
It sort of fit the lousy album, which also has evil39 on its back.
Anyway, I saw them in Copenhagen on this tour 28/29 Aug 1993 and was left disappointed by that one as well, maybe I had too high expectations, but System 7 blew all the fishes out of the water and they were sparkling brilliant as Mr. Hillage stood there on the raft in the water with his magic guitar. So a well spent August summer night - 29 years ago almost this very day! -

Incredible prices as I actually bought a NM/NM copy only 3 years back in the UK for 30 pounds (then about 40 euro). The Orb were amazing live and in studio. Their best performance ? I saw them a few times, but for me their showcase @ Belgian techno club Fuse for a limited number of 300 guests stands out by far ! 3 hours of amazing dubby techno with millions of sounds, samples and crazyness ! They rocked the place down with samplers, beatboxes, keyboards, turntables, a drummer and a bassist ! And they played a 30min version of The Blue room at a real techno pace ! Madness ! Unfortunately I never managed to get a copy of the tape that was recorded by one of the guys from te club that day ! -

Sounds as good as I'd hoped it would, given the prices for anything worthwhile these days. Superb recording, pressing, and sound. Barely any surface noise over 4 LP's, and s as nearly audiophile in nature. Amazing document of what makes The Orb such a legendary force in electronic/live music. -

Saw them in ‘93 and this lives up to that performance. Sonic pleasure!
