I know we were all excited when "Pump Up the Volume" came out (the 7:10 version on the US 12" is the best, IMO), but the real gem here is the 12" versions of "Anitina" (found on the UK 12"s). If you like danceable alternative music with melody and , the perfect blend of beauty and brutality, this one is for you. Easily one of my top ten tracks of all time and my favorite end-of-the-night closer from my DJ days.
-
One of the better dance tracks from the later 80's.This one sounds great, as is usually the case with the 45rpm 12" singles.
-
Exceptional track from an exceptional period of dance music. Specialty Pressing is as always, first-rate. Clean, flat and beautifully mastered. This release deserves a home in your collection.
-
The 45rpm ‘Remix’ is the best sounding version of this classic. Not a exaggerate bass inflated version, with a well shaped soundstage, with clear mids and highs.

Great track, timeless, hasn't dated, still as pumpy as the first time I heard it, and a very clever track. -
I currently have M/A/R/R/S 39 times on my iTunes. There's a version on https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/release/388771-Various-Deejay-Millenium that starts something like 'Yo you homeboys here in front - this ones for you' (Female voice). All the other versions start with the words 'Pump up the volume' or 'That's right dude gotta be the greatest record of the year'. Of course the UK and USA versions are different plus the UK almost immediately had the 'Remix'. I'd love to have all the versions most weren't named that appear over the many compilations i do have the CD single with a number of mixes on but i've yet to add and check that one to my iTunes

Well, if you are only going to be known for ONE song, make sure it's a good one--and they sure delivered here. One of the most important odball dance records to come out of the 80's...and one of the earliest examples of hip-hop being sampled by dance producers.
