David Pritchard's one-off electronic experimental album that you've likely never heard of, and likely haven't heard of Pritchard either. A Canadian radio producer that got his start in the 1960s and had a dizzying ion and knowledge of the Beatles, as it's been told. That being said, this music has very little in common with that obsession and is not easily categorizeable. Clearly music that he made for himself to enjoy and hopefully others could too with this release. And it's actually pretty damn good! The A-side is a little more tethered, but both are enjoyable to listen to. It rarely slips into self-indulgent territory. Good craftsmanship, using a variety of instruments and percussion. The ARP 2600 and EMS SYNTHI feature prominently.

Edited one year agoHad this as a youth and was totally blown away by the inventiveness and wholly alternative vibe. The connection to F.M. and Nash the Slash were the motivating elements.

I wondered if this is the same David Pritchard that does the jazz fusion thing, and the album, Unassigned Territory?

An interesting Canada-only release with electronics and other instruments, on the experimental side. Pritchard worked in radio, was a respected composer and was the emcee/narrator on Nash's and FM's appearances on their TVO (Ontario Canada) appearances on the music anthology series "Night Music". Of note is the appearance of Nash the Slash who appears along with future FM drummer Marty Deller on S1T6 (credited to Plewman/Pritchard/Deller).
