Notes
Original released in U.K. on December 1981.
Debut album recorded in 3 days, it wasn’t really an album but a collection of re-recorded demos with a sleeve, which is why there’s such a huge difference in sound quality between 'Welcome To Hell' and the next album.
Venom recorded the first 6-track demo (in 1980) that got them signed with Neat Records for their first 7’’ ‘In League With Satan’ / Live Like An Angel - Die Like A Devil. Here it must be said that the initial mix of the tracks was made by a Neat engineer that he didn’t understand Venom’s sound and in result it didn’t really sound like them, so Cronos stole the initial tape and replaced it [before the pressing of the EPs] with one of his own mix!
First pressing includes pink insert + poster.
Side B Red variants.

Edited one month agoIf you are not familiar with how perfectly terrible the production on the album is, you may want to check that out before purchasing. I’ve heard rehearsal demos that sound better. BUT, it is Venom’s Welcome To Hell and it is glorious!
Bottom end on this version is a tad bloated, but sounds ‘great’ when turned up (or perhaps ‘accurate’ is a better term). Pressing was flat, has quite a bit of surface noise, but I haven’t given it a wet clean yet.
Venom was a huge part of my first year in high school. I took a lot of flack for liking them from metal-heads and non metal-heads alike. So, I am absolutely thrilled to finally have this on vinyl 40 years later. Packaging beats my old Banzai tape. -
I wonder if this brown marbled mispress was actually the beginning of the purple run, as the "marbled" purples have brown streaks running through, then others being pure purple. They also share the same silver text centre labels which could confirm this. Is it possible they loaded some brown pellets by accident, then didn't bother to purge the press when they went to purple?

I was unexpectedly lucky to have a copy with no big issues like usually with crappy GZ pressings. Dead silent vinyl with only a slight little warp. Volume level is maybe a tad low. Cool reissue.

Perfection all around.... crank it up!!!! Metal ten fold. Seriously - this pressing is beautiful and the music sounds as ugly as it should!!!! Get this!!!

Edited one year agoOk so ive done a bit of digging about the general consensus is that there are only 50 maybe 60 copies ever pressed

sounds as it should, you may enjoy scooping the treble slightly or if you like it super raw leave it as is,

referencing Welcome To Hell (LP, Album, Reissue) E-30.1107
On the images the outer sleeve looks rather glossy, mine is matte though -
Might have been lucky, my copy i picked up at a record shop in Norway was flat and fine. Sounds just as expected: raw, heavy and like Venom! A bit of surface noise, which gets drowned out mentally by turning up the volume :)
