Darkthrone – Under A Funeral Moon

They cropped the Taakefert artwork so that the painter's signature (”TS” which is Tania Stene) was not visible. I don't know if it was intentional, but I find it disrespectful and not true to the original as they claim.

This record sounds and looks really good! Glad to have this record in the original layout and without any remastering. Artwork is really light and grey especially compared to Blaze and Hunger, but very, very detailed and you can see the trees and sky in the background. The mix is dead on perfect, there is some surface noise throughout the playback, but you need to be paying a ton of attention to catch it and you will not hear it during the songs. This is a good replacement for older reissues! The marble is cool, looks like a funeral moon!

Great pressing. No cracks, no pops. Another fantastic Peaceville reissue.

Mid 90's Bootleg and recent 2023 CD doesn't have "thanks to peaceville&bm mafia" text inside the booklet. 2001 cover art shade is darker and the grey sky is almost missing. 2003 and after Peaceville started to use re-mastering for ALL CD & Vinyl pressings, therefore only the 90's vinyl & CD, 2001 CD re-issues AND 2002 vinyl + recent 2022/23 CD/LP re-issues are from original dynamic sound masters. This is valid for all early Darkthrone and most of Peaceville stuff. They have started to use the original dynamic mastering again though. So if you want original mastering on this album vinyl go for 2002 or 2023 editions or 90's / 2001 CD's + 2023 CD (I guess this 2023 edition is from original master as the art work is restored too?).

I would love to get this record but why is the cover art grey? I really don't get it, the original was black, all of the reissues were black until the last ones which were zoomed in or grey, what is wrong with peaceville? Such a simple thing

Idk why but I find this record oddly relaxing. It’s almost ambient in the way it’s recorded, atmospheric in nature. Like if Satan recorded a Windham Hill album.
