I finally got my hands on the OG, so I could compare it with my 2017 blue repress. clear results: more dynamic, better separation of the soundstage, more clarity, more details.. fantastic.
Save money and buy yourself an original! -
Guys, guys! It’s black metal it’s supposed to sound like that, or you expect black metal fans back in the 90s to use 400+ e cartridges! Sounds perfect with a 60 / 70 e cartridge (that back in the day cost like 40)

Edited 7 years agoThe best vinyl version of this I've found. The BOB reissues are just garbage and I don't really see point of getting the new Candlelight pressing.

Edited 9 years agovery different from future versions in my opinion. More murky and not so clear in the high ends. Sounds more like other norsk black metal bands. Its a good and a bad thing with emperor. Especially vast difference comparing with 2003 remastered CD.
Many vinyls of this era sound weird since they were done 100 % digital.
