Sea Change is the eighth album by American alternative rock artist Beck, released on September 24, 2002. Recorded over a two-month period at Ocean Way Studios in Los Angeles with producer Nigel Godrich, the collection includes themes of heartbreak and desolation, solitude and loneliness. "Lost Cause" and "Guess I'm Doing Fine" were released as singles.

Released in four variant sleeves with different catalogue numbers suffix (D). There were also different hidden messages (lyrical snippets) written under each version's CD tray.

        Holy crap does this sound phenomenal. Soundstage and instrument separation just envelopes your soul. This is mixed and mastered to perfection. Got the “Made in ” sticker as well in the back. This is my favourite Beck album and this pressing slaps. If this pressing sounds this good, and people are raving about the 2006 first press and Mofi versions, I don’t know how much better they can be over this release.

            I have heard the Mofi and own the 2016 repress which is also very good but this original 2006 just soars above the rest - I have never heard this sound any better - I wanted to cry in the sheer beauty of this pressing - it is sounds so organic, lush & intimate - the warmth just fills the room. So happy I am able to add this to my collection.

              Unfortunately, my side B has some non fill sounds throughout, but it’s only noticeable in quiet parts. My sides A and D are also slightly off center, leading to noticeable pitch variation towards the inner groove. However, this sounds so absolutely astounding that I’m keeping it anyway, gorgeous stereo imaging to boot. Bob Ludwig and John Golden, can’t get much better. No siblance distortion issues with my copy.

                This version sounds far too boomy in the bass, and far too bright to me. I have not compared it to MFSL or others.

                  Has anyone encountered sibilance on 1B? I bought a copy from a record store a few months ago and there is significant sibilance on 1B. Side 1A is beautiful just like everyone describes in these comments. I bought another copy recently from Beck's website directly, hoping that I would get a cleaner pressing, and it's exactly the same. I do not hear ANY sibilance on 1A but it's VERY noticeable on 1B. The comments of this pressing are so glowing, it would be great to know that I'm not crazy or that unlucky. Thanks.

                    IMO, this original pressing is better than the Mofi. Why mess with a good thing? I've listened to both, and the Mofi lacks warmth, and the low end is really attenuated. This does produce more clarity in order to hear a bit more of what's going on with the instrumentation. But I don't know, the missing low end takes away from the original's impact and warmth.

                      Wonderful pressing! On my 3rd time through....quiet, detailed, great wide soundstage. Might be one of the best in my collection. Had a few stray trimmings around the edge, but cleaned up fine. "Made in " sticker on the back.

                        Other than some quality control issues--both records had some marks right out of the shrink--this is an extremely nice pressing. Mastered by Bob Ludwig, lacquer cut at Golden...what more could you want. Minimal but decent jacket, no frills. But at least it came with poly lined inner sleeves!
