Clannad – Magical Ring

This remaster, coming 20 years after its debut, sounds very good. The clarity and dynamics are great, as are the mix and mastering. Stylistically Clannad was still strongly folk oriented in 1983. The compositions are relatively simple which places more focus on the vocals. The vibe is slightly somber, and haunting at times. I so wish they had gone with 24-bits for this remaster.

BUYER BEWARE: My copy of this release has started to 'pinhole', as have quite
a few that were manufactured in the mid to late 1980's.
My advice is to rip your copy of this release asap, before the pinholes increase &
become problematic during playback of the CD.

GZ media runouts. Very thick and heavy and about as flat as modern record tends to be (ie not flat but play unaffected). No groove defects. Needed a good clean from a very static ridden printed inner. Plays very quietly. Sounds good enough.
£14 well spent!

This album is SCARY! We were lured in by the albums beautiful exterior. After a first listen we discovered the folkmusic itself was horrible. Sounds like shit, mold and poop.

To top it all off in the middle of the moaning a guy that was clearly intoxicated and on crack barged in the incorrect key…! Pretty much everything is wrong with this piece of music. AVOID.”

Shouldn't the year of release be 1983? The year on the disk is 1983.
