Notes
There are two master mixes of this album.
The first mix was overseen by Lou Reed and was done with the recording engineer, Angel Balestier at TTG studios in Los Angeles. This mix is notable for its dry sound and upfront vocals, with Sterling Morrison calling it the "Closet Mix" because it sounded like it was recorded in a closet.
The 8-track tapes were sent to New York where Val Valentin oversaw a more conventional mix (aka the "Valentin mix", which included a different version of Some Kinda Love.
While the so-called "closet mix" was used for the original US release, the Valentin was used for the original 1969 UK LP release. The Valentin mix was also used on the 1985 reissues.
The only official Closet Mix released in digital form has been on box sets. It appeared on the 1996 box set, Peel Slowly and See and on the 2014 Super Deluxe 6 CD issues. The first matrix of the German CD version used the Closet mix for tracks 1-5 (with channels reversed).

Somebody who has a copy and wants to sell it, please message me. -
Edited 2 days agoThis might be one of the crispiest clean pressings I’ve ever bought. I don’t hear surface noise and no scuffs or scratches. Comes with a poly lined sleeve as well. Honestly love the mastering on this. True the bass is prominent, but it isn’t muddy at all. There is really good instrument separation. For 1969, I really enjoy this stereo mix. I do appreciate the closet mix. But this pressing is a vibe to be honest. All in all, I think this is truly great. Happy with my copy.

I recently picked up a Sundazed 2012 copy of this, with the blue/silver Verve label, I'm pretty sure it's not the Closet Mix. LP 5414, 16246 LP 3 A/B, SA 8314 matrix #. Can't find it on here, wondering if it's from a boxset or something? Any help gladly appreciated! -
I can't find the Sundazed (non-closet) mix of this (LP 5414). 2012. Was it part of a boxset, or smthng?

This sounds so warm and cozy and 3-dimensional and lovely :^] -

Does this edition have the closet mix or the Valentin mix? The notes above are unclear. -

Having compared this to the US Sterling pressing from the 80s, this one is much better — both in of sound and pressing quality. The jacket is also much sturdier.
The original US (closet mix) is still more pleasant to listen to, though. -
