Alot of deadwax for no reason. The sound is abit flat, dry and harmonically lacking.... obviously its a DMM from a digital source and that can be fine but im not a huge fan of this sound. The vinyl is dead flat and very quiet but the sound is not as good as the RSD cut by KPG at least to my ears. Id still take this over the Rhino 2024 botch job!

Sounds more natural and expansive than the MOV but this is cut close to the label and there is a distortion rise as the sides play out even with a microline. The bass brings the recording to life and the mids and treble are liquid smooth. This is almost Steve Hoffman level as opposed to KPG's much more drier and brighter masterings of his own but there ya go!

The MOV is notably dryer and less harmonically satisfying though the press has a blacker background. Its not bad per sè just not as lush. Notably it has alot more end side deadwax so its a db or two lower in level but it suffers no IGD.

The 2024 blue repress/botch job with half KPG cut on side 1 and half god knows what on side 2 should be avoided as you get a frankenstein mastering job that doesnt do the job properly.

This reissue is shady practice level and should be called out. Side one matches the stampers from the previous RSD cut that KPG did and indeed it sounds identical. Side two is NOT from the KPG cut as the runouts omit the etchings and it sounds different from the RSD. It sounds worse... thinner and less expansive to my ears with notably less bass. Therefore side one and two seem like different masterings.... BECAUSE THEY ARE 🥺

Picked up yesterday in the US. Kevin Gray in the deadwax for side 1, no info for side 2. Could be my ears, but side 1 sounds significantly better. Vinyl is clean and defect free. Solid reissue for the price, but not heard the orange version from a few years back, or OG, for comparison.

This German first pressing is absolutely gorgeous, if you see it in a good condition pick it up, you won’t regret it, sounds great.

Is this the same as the Orange vinyl edition from a few years back? I doubt Kevin Gray did another mastering. Someone will have to compare run-outs and possibly dB numbers to be sure.

Wonderful reissue. Sounds excellent. Great bass and low end. Crystal clear mids and highs. A+

As someone else said, definitely seems like side a is mastered clearer and hotter than side b on the original pressings, including the original UK pressing. Survival especially struggles with a muddy sound.
