The Smile (5) – Wall Of Eyes

I somehow lucked out. My pressing, purchased in the US, seems to be a newer variant of the EU / Optimal version, and it is one of the quietest, bests sounding Radiohead / Smile LPs I own. My copy is dead quiet, no surface noise whatsoever, and sounds quite good.

Not the best sounding for me. Did not have Great dynamic, sounds ok... but not Great. IMO this release could have been a two-disc presentation, like "A Light for Attracting Attention." This could have improved the audio quality by compressing the songs less.

Necesitamos Wall of Eyes en 2x LP, al igual que el primer disco de la banda. En calidad de sonido “A Light for attracting attention” suena muy, muy, muy superior que “Wall of eyes” y que “Cutous”. Le atribuyo ese salto de calidad a que son 2 LP, y por ende la música está menos comprimida. Por favor XL... queremos el Wall of Eyes en versión de 2LP. Gracias. Dicho esto, Mi copia de Wall of eyes suena: bien, es correcta, fué uno de mis lanzamientos favoritos de 2024, me encanta el álbum y amo el concepto de The Smile.

A worthy release after all. Great packaging - textured gatefold print, cool color of the plate, almost quiet surface (just a few cyclic clicks). The sound is good. Not as impressive and transparent as in “A Light For…”, but absolutely acceptable.

Hands down best sounding copy of this album I’ve heard (my third). Nit-picky I wish we got an alternative cover, but who cares now that I can hear Bending Hectic without it sounding like I’m sitting at a camp fire eating Rice Krispies. A shame only 500 were pressed as this is without a doubt the pressing to own.

The whole package is quite cool, but my copy unfortunately has plenty of noise, huge let down

Lucky me, my copy is absolutely perfect. Zero surface noise & great sound overall.

Charity shop find for £1. Love it. A bargain I guess.

So glad I picked this up as it sounds fantastic with no pops and is quiet. Best to run it through an ultrasonic cleaner for maximum results.

Well it's quite a shame... The cover feels and looks amazing, the vinyl in blue is pretty as well, almost all the songs are really interesting and worth to be listened to but holy crap the surface noise... I listened to it once and couldn't go through all of it, tried again with my headset and felt a lil better. But it stays a really brilliant piece of art from our trio.
