Massive thanks to everyone at Kniteforce for remastering an absolute Hardcore banger. There are so many tunes from this era that still need remastering for digital and vinyl releases. I hope we all see a lot more in the very near future. Keep up the good work and thanks again for keeping Hardcore alive.

My god, what a perfect cover for the most essential re-issue of 2023.

Thanks to Paul Drake, Chris and Kniteforce, the wait is finally over, the P.A. mix of Pennywise is finally released and in our collections before we leave this planet. Considering it is restored from Dubplate I'd say it sounds absolutely stellar, but then I'm again I'm no expert and only go by my ears. I for one can put this to rest, one less dub to hunt for :) Top work and worth grabbing also for the Clown mix on the flip!

How can 6 have the original plate when only 3 were made? Either people are telling porkies or they have pressed their own copy from a dodgy source maybe? Oh, and how did it get released in1992 and cut in 1993?

So glad the p.a mix finally gets a proper release / was a massive want for me - the splatter vinyl looks and sounds great - grab it while you can before it up for crazy money.

They is also a black copy release for them that don’t like splatter/coloured vinyl.

I try to be balanced with comments, but Kniteforce strangled the life out of this one.

The compression is so heavy that the string sections sound louder perceptually than the drum sections. There is no sense of drop, just heavy throttling back when the track should be gaining energy. It's completely distracting.

I'm glad I have an original press that, albeit with a few flaws and heavy use, sounds light years better than this. Some might think I'm being unfair, or overstating my criticism. If so, please read my other reviews. That's never my approach.

Kniteforce in particular, please take note. Heavy handed remastering destroys the tracks we love. Go significantly easier on compression and limiters please. I'd personally prefer no compression beyond what's on the original master.

I'm also not entirely convinced this was sourced from the DAT, but that's a whole other point of discussion.

First dated play of "Pennywise" i can find was by Grooverider at Perception 'Wonderland' @ Blackgrove Crossroads, Aylesbury on 10/07/1992 followed closely by LTJ Bukem at Interdance @ Sterns, Worthing on 18/07/1992

Such an essential release with both the "2 Twisted" and "The Clown" mixes holding up to the already legendary original.

It's extremely difficult to choose a favourite of between the two, what with Nookie introducing his trademark piano melodies and Micky Finn & Bay B Kane dropping one of the biggest basslines going. So I won't even bother comparing. They're both massive tunes.

Got to love this particular 12" for it's inclusion of the uncredited Reprise tucked in after "The Clown Mix". The carnival music layered over those half speed breaks and additional "It"samples. Is seriously creepy.
