"Loops of Fury" sounds like a mix of "Keep Hope Alive" by The Crystal Method and "Leave Home (Underworld mix one)". Hard to say which one was first, as they all came out in '95.

Edited 18 days agoFor Tom & Ed to leave something as infectious as "Loops Of Fury" off their albums showed how confident and prolific they were in 1996. It refined their acid breaks formula of Whoomp! (There It Is)". Reached #13 in the UK singles chart. (7)
It flows straight into "(The Best Part Of) Breaking Up", a 5-minute break-beat + turntablism excursion that deconstructs the title-track into its basic elements like the big beat equivalent of an epic jazz drum solo. The ending, which uses percussion lifted from T La Rock's These Beats are Made for Breakin'". (5)
With its fast, rubbery bassline, lively horns and quirky "Monterey". (7)
The final track saw Dave Clarke arguably trump the Chemicals' acid breaks original with a more infectious techno remix. He retained the acid line, Wreckx-N-Effect's "Rocco" not long after. (7) -

No matter what anyone says today, this EP was top class when it came out and cream of the crop, as it's still very playable.

Quite possibly The Chemical Brothers' best track. It is so angry, has so much power and just rocks. I spinning this at parties in college and this always got people's heads moving and asking "what is this??", since it wasn't included on an album. -

it's called loops of fury for a reason. the 16 bars throughout the track will destroy the sound system. -

All the tunes here feature big, funky breaks and equally phat beats. The title track is serious business... maybe that's why it was leftover from the Exit Planet Dust LP. The only track here without cheeky vocal samples.
The real gem is the remix work by Dave Clarke, who turns Chemical Beats into a bass-heavy acid roller.
From this EP, you can tell why Tom and Ed were respected producers and still are now-- cause they grab from hip-hop, techno, rock and mash it up into dance music. Even their b-sides are good.
