The fourth Analogue Bubblebath EP/CD by AFX.
The very first CD release is identifyable by the info "Distributed in the UK by RTM" and the absence of a specific mastering number for Nimbus.
Later pressings were distributed by Vital (1997 or later) and feature the "www.rephlex.com" website address on the back. First without a mastering number B3374 (and a mastering SID code) in the matrix.
The CD was 2011.
The 12" features only 4 tracks (so that it qualified for the UK singles chart), omitting the track 5 snippet of an interview with Evel Knievel. Also the running order on the 12" is different to the CD (tracks 2 and 3 are switched).

Edited 5 months agoThe distorted scream that led to track 1 being known as 'elephant song' sounds suprisingly similar to one of the distorted scream noises used in Malcom Brown's Sedation Strokes which can be found on Various - Close To The Noise Floor (Formative UK Electronica 1975-1983), I don't have software to analyse, but it's very convincing to my ear. There are few on this, and one specific one sounds extremely alike. -
(I think) The bird samples used on track 2 ("Cuckoo") are also used on Didgeridoo

Was hearing DJ H - Petruccio this morning and I couldn't help but to think there are some similarities in the kick pattern as 'Elephant Song.' It was released a year before Analogue Bubblebath 4 was out - maybe Richard was inspired by this one? Classic UK rave track so I wouldn't be surprised if he heard it. Either way, tough track, great release. -
His best Analogue Bubblebath release, apart from the Hangable Auto Bulb EP of course. -
Great EP, with "Cuckoo" being one of AFX's funkiest moments. Still cheap due to a large amount of copies pressed. -

"Cuckoo" is an interesting track; the rest are kinda forgettable.
