Indian Summer (3) – Indian Summer

Although the hype sticker boasts "virgin vinyl" don't assume the pressing is any good - noisy AF, clicks and pops all over especially B side. My copy is orange marbled vinyl... but virgin vinyl nevertheless... does that make sense?

Underrated and wonderful. Press sounds nice. Don't know how this isn't more sought after, it's a stunning prog record.

Despite the low volume (just turn it up), everything seems to be well balanced and everything sits nicely in the mix with the vocal perfectly out front. No surface noise, nice and flat, good boot for the price.

Just a warning to anyone who is going to buy a US NM copy for big bucks.

I have gone through 3 visually NM copies and they are all cut quiet and extremely noisy.

Can't speak for UK presses.

The volume is quite low on this (due to mastering and/or Dynaflex?), but apart from that it sounds beautiful, much thanks to the mixing and overall production, I'd say. I've read about Dynaflex and that some say bass frequencies could be low on such pressings. Well, it's not the case here, though - the bass sound is thick and deep, just the way I like it. And the album itself is a masterpiece! Absolutely superb British heavy prog rock.

Good record, but not great (in comparison to....great records). It's magical in a way and sucks you in, but the reward is just a tad underwhelming. I prefer (the similar sounding) Salamander Lp "The ten commandemens" to this one. Even if it's XIAN! I still consider Indian Summer's record somewhat of a "must have". I keep coming back to it, for reasons unknown....

My copy sounds great, no surface noise at all after wet cleaning. Great record, totally recommended
