Worth noting that this is NOT a US pressing. Both this and the Glitterhouse pressings are German pressings, they are identical except one has a Glitterhouse logo on the label and the other has a Sub Pop logo, same matrix numbers even. The sleeves are exactly the same as well. Probably pressed at the same plant at the same time.

I mirror the positive comments that have come before mine on this one. I finally have my copy on the turntable and it's not only super clean, but the dynamics kick ass. Get this while you can because I have this feeling these will go out of print and be gone for a long period again.

Sounds really great here. Dynamic, flat, clean… very clean and looks beautiful

Very disappointed. I was hoping that it won’t be as bad as mention previously, but vinyl is so noisy to enjoy this record.

Can anyone comment on the quality of this pressing? I’d be interested to know how it is

Available again at the Numero website for $25 ! - ordered mine hoping the damn thing's not warped....UPDATE ! - just traced these, slightly warped, but playable, great sound, number one, along with packaging and presentation, but NO FUCKING POLY SLEEVES ! - for a fucking dollar more I would pay if Numero and other reissue labels would just do this - do you understand that paper and cardstock sleeves cause scuffing and damage to the vinyl ? - start caring for your customers, you fuckheads !
                  - UPDATE ! Sold Out !!!!

This is the greatest "slowcore" album of all-time. I listened to this more than any other album in 2020, and wow it was fitting for that year...
I thought this album was really boring when I first heard it but it grew and grew as I came to notice all the fine details of the tracks, and get lost in the huge noise.
Speaking of huge noise, this vinyl reissue sounds FAT AS HELL!!! Absolutely astounding how much heavier it sounds than cd or digital copies, but maybe that's just my setup idk.

In of quality, it's a great reissue, with solid but flawed packaging (looking at you cd slot). The first copy I received was too warped to play and so numero group sent me another and even let me keep the warped one which was cool. Second copy was warped, but only slightly, so I called it good enough.

It's really a bummer that this is out of print, as it really should only cost you about $25 at the most, as I believe it used to be $22 directly from Numero. As usual the snakes are out and trying to charge $150+ for it. I'd recommend buying a cd copy and just streaming the bonus tracks (which are also great). The sound isn't THAT different.

LPs were both warped to hell. Really disappointing as all indications are that this is a great package.

Summer of 1990. In a Brooklyn basement Codeine record their debut album. From that basement a desolate, disillusioned, jaded music comes out. It takes your breath away as summer sultriness, it isolates and envelops you as autumn fog, it hypnotizes you as the lights of a metropolis watched through a car window running on a wet road. Intimate and hypnotic, it slides slowly into the void of a loneliness without alternatives. A noise rock with delicate dissonant arpeggios, rhythmic strokes in slow motion and enveloping glimpses of distortion. Nihilistic and tired, Frigid Stars is an abyss towards which the listener is fatally drawn to. Sometimes it sounds intimate, sometimes epic. Never too emphatic. Existential and cathartic, in its simplicity Frigid Stars is original and unique as certain albums by Neil Young and Nick Drake. And also a source of inspiration for all post rock and slowcore bands - from Low to Mogwai, from Bark Psychosis to Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
