Grant Green – Idle Moments

Bought it for 25 euros and very I'm happy with it. My copy is perfect except 1 *really* small pop on the B side. Absolute masterpiece of a album!

Picked up this reissue for $30.00 at my local store. Here is my first listen through take:

Sure, I definitely here what everyone else heres throughout track #1, "Idle Moments," but track #2 sounds a lot cleaner, though it is a more raucous song so that might block out some of the zapping or fuzzy sounds heard on track #1. Track #3, or track #1 on Side B is also pretty quiet, though at the very beginning maybe there is some noise but it's hard to tell if that's simply from a bit of dirt as opposed to an "issue." Track 4 sounds lovely. Overall, his press sounds VERY Good. Is it GREAT, or AMAZING, maybe not, but honestly it sounds very good, still. Music: 9/10. Press: 8.5/10.

P.S. - Unrelated but if you are getting into jazz and you don't particularly love vibraphone/vibes, and you see that Bobby Hutcherson is on vibes on this, don't fret: this is a subtle use of vibes and it sounds great. They compliment the main guitar melody quite well on "Django." So blind buy this record if you love Green - you won't be dissapointed.

One of the best sounding jazz albums in my collection and easily the best sounding Blue Note album I've heard, Steve Hoffman did an amazing job getting Green's guitar sound to "pop" with how realistic the entire album sounds on the AP SACD.

This CD has an excellent sound! CD was remastered by Rudi van Gelder. All transfers from analog to digital were made at 24-bit resolution. And what a great album this is!

I’m not a jazz expert but I like this style very much. Great Sunday morning crossword puzzle music.

Lots of left channel distortion throughout on my copy unfortunately. Track A1 suffers from what sounds like a bunch of non-fill. Pressing-wise. A2 is the standout song from a mastering point of view.

Was apprehensive at first of these DOL pressings, however they have proved themselves more than capable of performing at a level that much more expensive pressings fall short of. Well worth the price paid, and beautiful heavy vinyl. As for the content, an absolute classic, 6 artists completely reading each other’s minds. Never leaves my rotation.

RVG STEREO in deadwax. Sounds great : Rich, smooth, sweet, full of ambience, dead-on correct tonality — everything that we listen for in a great record is here.

I just bought it...reading all the horror stories mine copy seems reasonably good. 1-2 small pops on side A which I consider accepable. Side B is with 3-4 louder pops on the begining of the first track but everything else is all good. Knowing that it could be quite worse i will keep what i have....the album is very nice and the sound is maybe 8 out of 10.
