Very Japanese pressing: absolutely pure sound free from any discernible vinyl sounds, but not very bassy. The bass is there—on a highly resolving system, I can hear every note and “see” it in the soundstage—but it’s not what I would call present in the mix. Same for the bass drum: I can “see” the beater on the head, but it’s not exactly thunderous like my TML-stamped copy of The Wall. That being said, the mids and highs are simply spectacular!! Some of the most realistic guitar and drums sounds I’ve ever heard in my room. Solidly-3D soundstage. Not the widest, but taller than average and well-located. Definitely a more special sound overall than any of the US or UK pressings I’ve heard. If you’re a PF fan, this is a nice one to have in the collection! Edit: after playing it a few times, the bottom has opened up noticeably. Still not the most present or thunderous bass, but satisfyingly full.

On the A1/B1 pressings the sibilance is incredibly noticeable. Especially when Rick or Dave sings an “s”, the cymbals are slurring like a drunken sailor on shore leave, and it first becomes really apparent during “The Gold, It’s in The…” that it’s there. You may not pick much of it up with a conical shaped stylus, but anything else you’re going to hear it. The b-side isn’t as pronounced but still bad. I’ve got 8 different pressings this one is the worst sounding. Roger was right, you’d have to be deaf not to hear it.

My copy has the following runouts...

But back of cover says Made and Printed in the USA. The US version has different runouts. Either way, great sounding copy.
