Notes
This master includes all original "Dancing Queen" releases from 1976 (a few from 1977). Later reissues that mimic the original release are also included. The B-side was almost uniformly "That's Me" and most issues used the 'hats' photo in cover art. "Tiger" appeared on the Japanese and "Fernando" on the Hungarian and East German singles, all with unique cover art, while "Honey Honey" appeared on the Brazilian single. Some US promos include "Dancing Queen" on both sides. See also the 'back to back hits' releases of Fernando / Dancing Queen.
"Dancing Queen" is considered to be ABBA's signature song. Originally released in 1976, a few months before the album "Gold (Greatest Hits)", was a sizeable hit as well and marked the beginning of the ABBA revival.
On which release the 'backwards B' ABBA logo first appeared is unclear. The "Dancing Queen" single, with the new logo, was officially released 16 August 1976, but chart positions suggest the single came out in the Netherlands, West and Switzerland in the last few days of July 1976. The "Golden Double Album" compilation also featured the new logo and was officially released 26 August 1976, but was apparently released in Belgium in late July 1976.

Usually have a cue of curious onlookers rushing to see if it's the real deal when I play this 12" at my club... it's a dancefloor filler, no ifs, no buts or maybes... it actually has louder and deeper mastering for a punchier effect, similar to the remastered version on their #1s comp on cd. Reaches all genres of people, feel good song!!! Just wish they would extend the end a little bit with the violons !!! -

Sounds so fucking good, there is just something about the vinyl version of Dancing Queen -

This thing almost ruined my stylus! The space between the disc's edge and the groove is to tight. -

Has anyone else found a copy of this with the same cat#, same label almost the exact same. But has Voulez-Vous on the B side instead of Dancing Queen on the A&B side? -

This record is pop, not disco -

This morning on the tube on the way in to work, I was listening to this:
Sizzle Featuring LaRom André Baker - Love Is All Around,
this:
King Errisson - Manhattan Love Song / L. A. Bound,
and this:
MFSB - Love Is The Message
I am now happy to state that I believe "Dancing Queen" to be one of my least favourite records ever. Pointless on 12", it's the same as the album version. The arrangement is poor, and ironically it's far too slow to actually dance to - perhaps it should be called "Tortoise Queen". The recording sounds tinny and trebly and listening to it makes me cringe.
In comparison with the three records I mention above, this record is truly one of the most unlistenable and undanceable pieces of music ever written. Hopelessly overplayed, it's a real blot on the landscape in the history of disco.
Rated 1/5.
