The most underrated super group ever! Robert Palmer, Andy and John Taylor (Duran Duran) Tony Thompson (Chic) produced by Bernard Edwards. C'mon. The 2nd album is great too.
-
Edited one year agoBernard Edwards on production with Tony Thompson on drums, Robert Palmer on vocals, John Taylor his brother Andy. one of the greatest dance rock albums of all time coming out after chic ended Edwards, Thompson return to deliver!

My copy is a mix of the sides listed. Side A matches variant 16 and side B matches variant 5.
Also, has no one noticed that the vinyl is translucent brown when held up to the light? -

This was one of the first tapes I ever bought (when I maybe owned no more than 20 albums), but sadly the music has not aged well. The T-Rex cover is where the meat and potatoes on this disc are, but at this point in time I don't think I would ever listen to this over the original. -

Lively sounding album. Very direct clear with nice separation of instruments. Big 80’s drums, strident guitar and solid bass. Musically it doesn’t offer much in the way of subtlety, they amp up the rock-star moves and blast through covers of T. Rex and the Isley Brothers replacing groove with bombast and throw in some un-originals to round it out. It’s not terrible but it’s not going to change the world. -
Wonderful side project for John, Andy, Palmer & Thompson. The collaboration yielded some really great music. The result is a hybrid of rock, funk and DD. Andy finally gets to rock out on his licks. The groove behind it all is funky. The lyrics and singing are Palmer. Great combination. It shouldn't work - but it does.

Like a lot of music in the 80s, this is technically solid, musically...uh...well, it is what it is. Great for that period of time. I grabbed this because of the classic T-Rex cover but over the years I've come to appreciate that T-Rex already did it perfectly. -

This remaster would have been better if it wasn't brickwalled during mastering. The album is great as many albums were out of the 1980s. The added bonus material is also a excellent reason to have this CD/DVD combo for anyone who liked the 7" or 12" versions of The Power Stations songs, the extra DVD material containing behind the scenes and in the studio footage of the band making the songs for the album, shooting for the music videos & a live performance of Some Like It Hot on SNL. -
Wow, so glad 8-tracks died a death. I can't imagine listening to them now with that tick as it goes from one track to another in the middle of a song.
