More powerful search queries

This is a feature that used to be available but seemingly isn't any more.

I'd love to be able to use boolean search operators to find stuff.

For example: ((style:house AND country:uk) OR (style:"techno" OR style:electro) AND year:2011)

Is this possible?

As far as I know this was never possible on Discogs because I have wanted to be able to search like this for as long as I have been a member :)

Unfortunately, the backend only responds to a specific set of fixed query params so things like Boolean and And operators won't work even if you try to modify the request and them yourself. It is, unfortunately, not currently possible to do this.

Damn, what a bummer.

mattsalcido Apparently it was a feature once as they wrote about it here but my guess is, as with the fantastic “tracks” feature, they probably got rid of it quickly.

Ok, I did some digging and it appears that functionality was lost when search was switched from Solr to Elasticsearch: https://blog.discogs.sitioby.com/en/solr-eclipsed/

That’s a real bummer. I wish they would bring back that function. It would make searching so much quicker.

Hey mattsalcido, I appreciate everything you've done to make this tool so useful over the years, just wondering if you'd be able to add a contextual search option for soundcloud as well? Would be useful as well as lots of stuff I've dug for over the years is on soundcloud from like 10 years back!
