Hello, I'm a translator and reviewer for Portuguese and I realized that the whole glossary disappeared, but it was not only with Portuguese, I consulted the other languages and they also disappeared and the ones I had was something added recently.
Is there any reason why it happened? -

I just noticed this too! I didn't make any changes, so I'm not sure if it's a Transfex glitch or a change that someone else made. I'll see what I can do to track down the issue and hopefully recover the Glossary! -

OK, I've tracked down the issue. Apparently, one of the languages was updated in a way that unintentionally removed translations in other languages. :(
I'm going to see what I can do to attempt to recover the previous Glossary. I probably won't have an answer until Monday though. Sorry for the complication! I'll post an update here as soon as I know more. -

No problem, as practically, again, I'm just translating for Portuguese, the only difference is in the doubt I'll have to consult old translations, the problem is for the other more complex languages with several translators. -

Unfortunately, I don't have any great news... Transifex doesn't have an easy way to recover the Glossary. They are checking with a developer to see if we can revert. However, it doesn't sound likely.
There is a way to back up the Glossary by CSV file, and I'll start to do that every month to ensure this doesn't happen again.
I'll post an update as soon as I hear back from Transifex, and then we can decide on next steps. This might be a good opportunity to reconsider how we use the Glossary and make some improvements so it works better for translators and reviewers. -

Okay, Weetzie, we'll continue the work anyway... -

Hi Fabioluiz100, I'm so so sorry about the loss of the Portuguese glossary! It turns out the other languages were mostly preserved, but we totally lost Portuguese.
I just heard back from the Transifex developer, and they weren't able to recover the Portuguese glossary. :(
I'm taking steps to ensure this doesn't happen again. And I will now export the full Glossary every month so we'll have a backup just in case.
Once again, I'm so sorry for the frustration! Unfortunately, it sounds like we need to start from scratch for the Portuguese Glossary. The Glossary is a rather unique resource that doesn't have the same backup protections as other translations submitted. For example, all of the normal website translations submitted end up backed up by Transifex and within the Discogs GitHub codebase. -

Hello, Weetzie, that's terrible news. Did they give you an explanation on how and why it happened? -

This is not the first time I've lost something because of failure in a system, I'm used to it... -

Awesome, thanks so much!!! I have just added a backup of the Glossary in two locations, so this shouldn't ever happen again. And here's a third copy of the CSV Glossary backup in case you want access to it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AXWJkBkXSG-sGRwBQzJx6F4P7j-YlncKc-_DD2tTh5Q/edit?usp=sharing
I've also set a calendar notification to update the two backups every month, so we'll always have a recent backup.

The funny thing is that this whole issue was caused by a CSV backup of the Glossary... but the backup was outdated.
Basically, another staff member had made a backup of the Glossary last year... a backup from before we added Portuguese. Recently they were attempting to just update some German , but unknowingly updated all languages. Since their backup was from before Portuguese was added, it just removed Portuguese entirely. :(
So technically this issue was a result of error - but I can see how easily the mistake was made... the Transifex import/export functionality isn't very intuitive and it's easy to make mistakes.
We've just added some better training for the import/export Glossary feature AND we now will always have recent backups, so this shouldn't ever be an issue again.
Thanks again, Fabioluiz100, for your help rewriting the Glossary! -

Weetzie, please, do I still have access to Discogs's Portuguese translations on Transifex? Thx! -

I've re-added you to the Portuguese team in Transifex.
