[I posted this in another group but that group is dead]

I know pressing records is expensive but it annoys me when companies like Waxwork, who specialize in soundtracks, do not offer black vinyl pressings of their records. I love their design...but absolutely hate that they only press colored wax! It sucks when you get a re-issue that has killer art and the record sounds like shit. I don't get it. I guess more people are into the artwork than the actual music??

It never fails that these colored pressings have surface noise and worse.

I truly enjoy companies who offer plain black wax as an alternative to the "cool" colored versions. Anyone else have an opinion on this? Does anyone actually listen to these records or are they just cool collectibles to most people?

I can most definitely get behind this.

I've also been a bit outspoken on this matter. I like my colored wax, but it's gotta be quality. I listen to everything in my collection unless I've kept it sealed for a specific reason.

Sadly, often times Waxwork and Mondo don't put out good quality colored wax. I wish they would.
The Hellraiser score reissues from Lakeshore Christopher Young - Hellraiser (Original Motion Picture Score) both sounded the exact same to me which was sad. Must've been a shitty master.

Another thing about Enjoy The Ride Records can put out some fantastic quality work for $25.

Like, I get that they use original art from independent artists and such, but so does ETR a lot of the time. I don't quite get it.
