BUNKERHEADZ edited over 7 years ago
There's been tons recently, as you all know. I've been checking all my fave sites to find somewhere that actually keeps track of them all and i can't find anything. I know there are some big providers like MPS and Flash Forward, but there are plenty other smaller and indy releases that can slip by. Does anyone want a thread here (or elsewhere)? I'd really like a central place where i can keep track of them all (and get on the quality).
Hinty at a sticky here BUNKERHEADZ ;) -

Represses are shite. Go for the original.
The only slim little chink of good from a repress is the minimal amount of royalties otherwise label/pressing plant etc eat up the money. -

I'm all for collecting originals mate, i've spent a lifetime doing it, but there are some really good represses doing the rounds recently. And considering the spike in vinyl prices over the last year or two i have no problem buying an official and clean sounding reissue rather than some £50+ VG option. Anyway all opinions welcome, i was just wondering what the community feeling is. -
Show this post
So are you after a list of sites to check or links to represses as they come out? (I'm more up for the latter)? Strictly represses or new stuff in an old school style?
Anyway - if you like MPS represses, they put some leftovers here:

I'll keep an eye out and post if i see any indie stuff. Just 'cos some miserable sods think that represses aren't in the right elitist way of doing old school, i think most of us love represses :) -

I'm not a snob regarding represses. Especially if the original pressings were atrociously mastered. What I'm not keen are when things are repressed but with either original crap mastering and/or remixes on the same release. I believe remixes should be totally separate from original mixes. -

I'm honestly not sure. Global Electronic Network and Dina Gad are both quite recent, and i think Scopex got another pressing after the initial batch sold out, so they might be. Not sure about the rest. I tend to just buy between Juno and discogs, with the occasional Bandcamp order, but i know there are a few other online stores, so might be worth checking around -

It's all good mate. Good or bad music, it's all just opinion in the end isn't it? In all honesty i was never a massive electro fan myself. I never really got the hype with the likes of Drexciya (bracing myself to get shot down for that comment!), but i did REALLY want the Pollon 12". Lonely Planet has been up top of my wantlist for years. Considering it's currently €69 minimum for a VG+ copy, this repress seemed like a great deal. -

spaceface01
Ha! Not by me you won't. I do like some Drexciya releases, own a few myself. But they are definitely overrated aswell as many later Detroit releases as a whole. The Jaguar comes to mind, late 90s Jeff Mills/Robert Hood/Basic Channel/Minimal/Loopy bowllax... Please don't punch me!

John Beltran - Ten Days Of Blue just reissued by Peacefrog. Delighted cause it's been on my wantlist for a while.
By the way, does anyone mind if vinyl slightly outside the '80-'93 range such as this are posted, or would you rather we strictly stuck to those years? -

Another highly sought after reissue on Peacefrog, though after reading John Beltran's comments on Ten Days of Blue you have to wonder what is going on here. It's hard to resist, but i'd be far happier knowing that my cash is going, at least in part, to the artist involved.

Very true mate. You're actually throwing one of my own arguments back in my face when it comes buying originals :) I actually felt a little guilty about posting the Ten Days Of Blue resissue after reading Beltran's comments (and i'm sure everyone agrees that we'd like to see him get some of the proceeds) but in the end buying second hand has the same end effect. -

Morning guys... Just thought I would post a link to a couple of unreleased 92-93? tracks of mine, recorded at Sound Entity Studios, they were recently recovered from a DAT I thought I had lost!!
