Haven't been to FYR, but looks like a nice place to dig.

Bill's is a great spot. Bill is a great guy too and he's a story teller. Make sure you have some time(hours disappear quickly) and chat with him if you go.

    BILL'S RECORDS
    1313 S Lamar St, Dallas, TX 75215; (214) 421-1500

Bill's is better than Forever Young by a long shot. He's got lots of rare out of print EDM vinyl, mainly cause Bill's was an EDM shop in the 90's. However, the cheapest deal he's going to give you is $10 per record. Totally worth it on those really crazy finds you're bound to see in there!

    DOC'S RECORD & VINTAGE
    2111 Montgomery St; Fort Worth, TX 76107; (817) 732-5455[/b]
A really cool record store if you like LPs. You'll find plenty of them spanning rock, punk, jazz, disco, soul, R&B, and country (might be forgetting a genre or two). You won't see many 12", but the selection of LPs should keep you occupied nevertheless. Most prices are $10 or below, so you should definitely find something. And it's one of the few record stores I've visited that will play vinyl records!!

    FOREVER YOUNG RECORDS
    2955 S Highway 360, Grand Prairie, TX 75052; (972) 206-2726

This place is seriously the worst record store I've ever seen. 99% of the store's vinyl is $10+. The only records under $10? The records in the "new vinyl" section, which is mainly hip-hop. And yes, this includes the boxes and boxes of vinyl. The cheapest they will be is $10! The pricing system for those is as follows:

1985-present = $10 if independent label (this screws us EDM fans bad) $15
    1980-1984 = $15 if independent label? +20
    1970-1979 = $25
    All imports = $25

    RIDICULOUS!

    GOOD RECORDS
    1808 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75206; (214) 752-4663

Good Records is one of those "real" record shops that actually stock new vinyl. Unfortunately, they have absolutely zero used vinyl. They stock mainly the "indie"/"avant-garde" genres. I found artists ranging from Arthur Russell, MGMT, Merzbow, Venetian Snares, The Clash, Dead Can Dance, James Brown, Donald Byrd, etc. No pure techno, house, acid, or whatever EDM genre to speak of I'm afraid. And unfortunately, they sell the vinyl at $10+ mainly because they're newer releases.

    HALF PRICE BOOKS
    5803 E Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75231; (214) 379-8000

The biggest Half Price Books in the Dallas area, although all Half Price stores will have used vinyl. This place is really for bargain hunting though, with at least twice as many $1 bins as the next biggest Half Price Books store.

    REC SHOP
    1605 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75206; (214) 887-1122

A small record and skateboard shop just south of Good Records. They sell mainly house, drum & bass, and hip-hop music from the 90's to 00's for $5-13. I didn't see anything, but maybe because those weren't really my genres or years of taste.
    Listening Station(s)? Yes

    RECYCLED BOOKS RECORDS CDS
    200 N Locust St, Denton, TX 76201; (940) 566-5688

Pretty much a clone of Half Price Books, but I think this place is #2 right behind the Half Price on Northwest in of cheap records from non-record shops in the Dallas area. Whereas Half Price Books has mainly Rock, County, Jazz, or Soul, Recycled actually had a surprisingly sizable 12" collection for a used book store in the middle of Denton. The records available are all NM or M as well.

    Adding an update here:

    BILL'S RECORDS
    1313 S Lamar St, Dallas, TX 75215; (214) 421-1500

CLOSED. Bill died a couple of years or so ago and pretty much whatever he had went to:

    Josey Records
    2821 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Unit 100, Dallas, TX 75234, (972) 243-2039

Also, Josey Records opened up a second location in Plano:

    6940 Coit Rd, Plano, TX 75023, (214) 227-2333

I've been to the one in Dallas and sadly, like Bill's, it's a bit disorganized. By that, I mean that there are no separators indicating specific artists/bands, etc. This store can become great, but they need to put the effort into organization.

I was at Josey Records a few weeks ago and not much has changed as far as organization. The Electronic/Techno records are still in the back over several rows, but they are all mixed up with no sub-genre organization. Be prepared to dig for a while if looking for specific artists and genres. Still, some gems are to had if you can find them!

Just FYI , Josey's acquired all of Bill's Records stock after Bill died.
