Hi, discussion in the German forum.
It's about Nadine Fabielle - Echte Liebe.
Credit on back Chor: Tina Frank, Nadine Fabielle, Norbert Beyerl
First advice was Backing Vocals and later Backing Vocals [Chor].
But the main artist is Nadine Fabielle and there are no other vocal credits on the release
so that Backing Vocals [Chor] is false imho.
Based on the thread last year
https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/forum/thread/800248
I prefer Choir [Chor] – Tina Frank, Nadine Fabielle, Norbert Beyerl
Seven years ago there was no clear solution
https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/forum/thread/356176
suggestions are:
Vocals [Choir]
—
Backing Vocals [Choir]
—
if the artist is credited on the release with such role, I think it must be used (unless it's obviously wrong, i.e. someone playing guitar on the track and credited with saxophone) / + 1 (by that I mean: let the credit untouched)
so @ Laurie Anderson - Strange Angels the credits for track B2 are:
Choir – Angela Clemmons, Darryl Tookes, Diane Wilson, Paulette McWilliams
—
and (false advice, see below)
better not to use Performer which is an instrumental credit at discogs, it would appear under the wrong section for a vocalist.
Performer credit role as discussed here:
https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/forum/thread/766533
a.m.m.
so Performer [Choir] – Tina Frank, Nadine Fabielle, Norbert Beyerl
could be also correct.
BTW and of topic: When there is a choir / band name and I learn it to add so
Band / Choir – Group Name
Performer [Group Name] – Artist 1, Artist 2, Artist 3 a.s.o.
But here ist only a list of "Chor" , no other vocal credits
and so I preferChoir [Chor] – Tina Frank, Nadine Fabielle, Norbert Beyerl
as on release.

Thank you for inviting me again.
As i wrote in german forums:
According to the definition of the credit list choir is not correct
Choir: N: Vocals: A group of singers, especially an organized group, which is engaged in worship or sings spiritual music.
What they call "Chor" on back of the CD is not literally equal to a Choir. They list the singers which made the backing vocals - for that reason there is also Nadine Fabiele listed in this area.
The "Chor" on this release consisting of three persons Nadine Fabielle, Tina Frank (2) & Norbert Beyerl, but they are not three single "Choirs" as they are listed now.
Vocals [Chor]
Performer [Chor]
Backing Vocals [Chor]
but never ever
Choir [Chor]
Sometimes they even mean "Harmony Vocals" when they use "Chor" in this relation.
Also pinging pinkindustries who had a look into the same thread in german forum. -

We have a group of singers, credited as choir. -

We have a group of singers, credited as choir.
This is your own interpretation... the choir on this release which consist of the three persons has no name - they are the member but no one of them as a single artist (as they are listed now) is a choir.
If you want them to add on release you might invent a new artist with all three combined to one artist.
Now we have:
Tina Frank
Nadine Fabielle
Norbert Beyerl
The buld together a Choir without any name.
Gotthilf Fischer alone also isn't a choir. :) -

Even through here are no other vocal credits?
The singer is Nadine Fabielle, obviously. It really doesn't matter whether she's credited for vocals or not.

Edited: added correct link
In this thread - https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/forum/thread/800248 - they talk about the of a choir. The credit "Chor" on these releases here (German Schlager) should be read as "Chorgesang = Backing Vocals" in my opinion.
+1 for Backing Vocals [Chor] -

Choir [Chor] – Tina Frank, Nadine Fabielle, Norbert Beyerl
when AndyEvans2 sing together they form a choir ;-) even if a solo artist puts his voice x times on top of each other he has created a choir singing and if this is in the credits is the credit role choir. -

Just so I’m clear - is Choir the same as Band? An individual is not a choir, same as an individual is not a band? -

this interpretation seems to clash with what the guidelines tell us:

Choir: N: Vocals: A group of singers, especially an organized group, which is engaged in worship or sings spiritual music.
have you considered that maybe Backing Vocals has the same meaning in English as Chor can have in German?
e.g. backing vocals can be chœurs in French, coros in Spanish.
Chor in German has multiple meanings. Only one/some of them are applicaple for the credit Choir on discogs.
e.g. from Duden: "im Chor (gemeinsam, alle zusammen: die Kinder brüllten im Chor)" --> this does NOT mean you can use the Choir credit on discogs. -

After PM's and declarations from el_duro I agree toel_duro
but imho the credit description for Choir could be updated with an explanation for
Backing Vocals [Chor]Vocals [Chor]
there are enough false examples her in the database.
Performer [Chor]
Backing Vocals [Chor]

In viel Dankenbanken hier auf Discogs steht Chor und nicht Backing Chor. Ich bin der Meinung das was auf der Backcover steht muss eingetragen werden. Was macht man wenn auf eine CD Chöre steht wie wird das dann eingetragen.
Backing Choir: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Begleitgesang
Choir: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chor_(Musik)
Dann müsste ja jede Datenbank geändert werden wo Chor steht -
