While the later half of the 80s had been tremendously harsh on them ("Romantic?" literally sounding like the last nail in the coffin), the 90s were a time of creative rebirth for The Human League. Injecting fresh blood into their music, "Octopus" was a solid return to form - continued with later (albeit years apart) releases of "Secrets" and "Credo". During all this time, The Human League were smart to team up with people who had the ear for edgier underground electronic bleeps, rather than subserving to a critical mass of euro-dance party-goers. Pleasantly close to the 1993-era Fortran 5, which of course is an extra plus.
