Superb pressing; great separation and wide soundstage throughout. I've owned this PORKY PRIME CUT version for well over 30 years (and it was 2nd hand when I bought it) never heard any other pressing so can't compare, but this one is still absolutely amazing. The listening experience between streaming and vinyl for this album is like night and day.

Finally found a reasonably priced mint pressing! My original translucent, rounded corner copy was stolen, along with a whole heap of other post punk classics, many moons ago. I groaned at the ridiculous prices going for this over the last years, although I understand its perceived value to "collectors". So until now, the search was frustrating. I didnt have decent hifi back in 1979 so am only very vague about its sound. No longer: The sound on this pressing is unlike any digital version of the album -.darker, softer and with a different soundstage. Everything is centred, as opposed to the left channel panning on some tracks on the vinyl remasters. And every digital version I have heard. I do not know why the digital versions, and the terrible 2007 vinyl remasters as well, are so bright and have tons of added reverb and echo..anyone know ? Thats the way I am used to hearing this iconic record so it sure is a strange one. I dont get it. The one exception is the fantastic 1989 Japanese CD box set, catalogue COCY, which sounds closest to the original vinyl Porky cuts. Listen on headphones especially, and the differences are stark. The tiny details that come across is shocking! Just listen to Barney's intricate filigree guitar on New Dawn Fades...I had never heard the individual notes until now. Bass is big and full and the instrument seperation is wonderful. You really will only be able to hear just how much talent, skill, finesse and originality Hanett put into this, on original Factory vinyl pressings. Everything else is 2nd tier. Or 3rd. Or 4th.

Found a copy with an elevated ring on the labels, translucent vinyl (a bit), OIS with square corners and the correct matrix runouts. New version?

Paid a bit for this, needed a couple of spin cleans, but plays well. The cover had seen better days but what nice piece of music history to own!
