Midnight sounds so good on vinyl.
This legendary album gets a nice pressing with this 45rpm edition. While comparable to the digital version, you get a bit of warmth and character in exchange for some typical vinyl background noise.
The 45rpm somehow just feels fitting for the fast paced energy on the album. Agree with others that this isn't a background listen, you have to flip every 3 songs, and you get some increase in quality at higher volumes. Crank up the volume and feel the groove! -
Edited one year agoDayum!! What an extraoridnary & marvellous album!! I've discovered Caravan Palace just recently & started off with "Gangbusters Melody Club" which is i.m.o. in music, mastering & pressing just phenomenal!! But this album (🤖) here sounds even a bit better!! Dead quiet between tracks, instruments super sophisticated, cristal clear voices and HOLY SMOKES, what a clean & punchy bass!!! (my mate meant, if he'd wet hair, they'll be blown dry by the bass!)
And yeeees yes, it's a 45rpm album, so you have to lift your ass more often but s.f.what??! If you really care about excellent sound, 45rpm pressings do sound, most of times better than 33rpms.
Caravan Palace really & completely nailed it with this one!
This gem plays definitely in the reference-league!

Based on the other reviews I seem to have gotten lucky with my pressing. It sounds great. It's just annoying that they pressed two 45-rpm LPs for a release that could've easily been one LP.

12 inch at 45 rpm isn’t the best with automatic turntables and it would have probably fit on a single record when it would have been produced at a normal speed. Music is very good, but you will have to get up to flip / change the record a lot, making it not suitable for background music when you have guests over.

It's a great album but this pressing is full of surface noise that's very noticeable in quiet points

Great album, terrible pressing. Bought two copies, both had major edge warping on both records. Disappointing.

I have a copy of this but instead of saying made in the US mine says made in canada on a sticker on the back as well as made in USA on the cover. Is this the same release or a different one?

Edited 7 years agoBombastically swinging album is the best way I can describe it. Take notice that this is a 45 rpm release however. Its not stated on the package itself so if its a problem for you then be aware if it. Great mastering with maybe the exception if the bass in some songs where it doesn't sound so clear. Nearly perfect otherwise. The pressing is alright with only some slight surface noise but a bit of crackles. However this is yet another record packaging with 2 discs in a standard jacket sleeve instead of a gatefold design. With that said the design is not much to speak of so the inevitable ring wear is not too painful.
