Enjoyable listening experience. Played on Sony sacd Blu-ray player, with Sony core 5.1 speaker system (two subwoofers, pair of towers and bookshelves with center speaker)

Edited 7 months agoThe PCM layer suffers from compression and noise reduction, albeit minimal, but the SACD layer, which requires more volume, has punch, resonance and sparkle. Two different sounds, one edition.

This SACD represents, to me, the highest possibilities of what SACD stereo can offer. This SACD and the Eye in the Sky SACD are simply extraordinary sounding - but I give a slight edge to Eye in the Sky.
that Alan Parsons was an engineer on Dark Side of the Moon, so he's skilled in that area. I'm not actually a fan, but I do like about half the songs on this SACD. The sound quality is just so good, that the songs I don't like don't seem bad enough for me to click the forward button on the remote.
The detail is insane, but yet I get a feeling of warmth and smoothness. Parson's voice is usually in the middle of the presentation, with a very sharp focus. The instrumentation and other sounds make out the sound field that stretches from left to right, up to down, in to out.
I give it a 5.5 out of 5. -
