Edited 4 years agoSo, by chance, I listened to Springsteen's 'Nebraska' and then this Suicide LP both throughout the day, and Frankie Teardrop is pretty much the antipodes of all Bruce Springsteen protagonists, who are romanticized and given a Guthrian, 'society got me down' angle. Nope, this is just bleak, fucked, scorched earth desperation. The scary transparent reality of1977 NYC by Suicide, and the scary halcyon view of 1982 middle america by Bruce are an interesting take on Americanism at the time. One can see the need for both, yet the deranged-unnerving-Zola-esque realism of Suicide seems to me more interesting overall, I love both, and bridging the gap between Bruce and Suicide is not exactly an obvious road to take, but there ya go. More scotch for me please.

Sounds great. Dead quiet between tracks and no noise during fadeouts. Glad to have this on vinyl after years of listening to the cd. Includes a nice anecdote from Thurston Moore. My girlfriend definitely did not appreciate being woken from her nap by Frankie Teardrop.
