putting my feelings on the album aside... this cd is awful, the gatefold feels so thin and horribly cheap and technically isn't standard size, and it doesn't even have the digipak tray, so it basically has no protection for the disc (and will likely end up scratching it over time, so that's fun)
pretty disappointing that one of the most famous bands in the world can't get their new cds right lol

Great album. Ive yet to find a decent sounding Radiohead vinyl album though. Even after multiple cleans I end up with a muffled mess of sound that makes even the crushed CDs sound ok. Shame. If ever a band deserved some high quality mastering its this lot. Maybe, someday.
However, the quality of the songs is off the charts. A remarkable collection. -
Edited one year agoAwful music, it sounds really "smart" but has absolutely no soul. They finally managed to get more than just their heads up their own butts. I've listened to this album a few times since it came out and it hasn't grabbed me. Even TKOL is a better album and that is saying a lot.

I hate Radiohead. A brand new deluxe edition box set isn't even in good condition. What a joke of a band

Edited 4 years agoOwning this version and also the expensive book version. I have to say this is one of the worst sounding albums in my collections. No dynamics, seriously overcompressed, even distorted during busy parts, dull sounding, and I listen true a high-end audio system. Their 45RPM version of In Rainbows sounded good together with some 45RPM single releases, but after that I have not been pleased anymore. I cannot believe Radiohead actually agrees releasing their vinyl version sounding this bad.
This link shows how bad the album scores in of dynamic range both digital as analog version: http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/list?artist=&album=a+moon+shaped+pool -
inside of the cardboard sleeve is the same on every copy? - mine looks like the art from pages 8-9 from the 12-page booklet (blue-grey-gold art)

Isn't just in a gatefold where it's in? Why use another term when it the same as when it is on vinyl.

Edited 6 years agoWash your vinyl! Even before the first listen! If you’re not using at least a “Spin Clean” type method, you’ll never be happy. My Deluxe copy is fantastic. Minimal surface noise and decent soundstage. The only problem with the mix is that it extends through all formats.

Edited 7 years agoWell, considering the 'appalling' reviews that people have angrily left for this pressing, I think it's safe to say that I haven't encountered the exact same issues, as it would be pretty obvious if I did. For me, the pressing sounds great. I did, however, notice a slight bit of distortion on "Daydreaming", but when I say "slight", I mean literally minuscule. It comes from the right channel, and I think it has something to do with the piano melody. But it's very quiet, and as the song kicks off, you stop hearing it. Apart from that, the rest of the pressing sounds pretty tight to me, but I'm not an audiophile by any means.

I've seen some white vinyl versions come with a booklet from Stanley Donwood – curious why that's not listed here?
