Edited 4 years agoMissed out on the MOFI pressing, thought I would give this one a shot. Pleasantly surprised, sounds good, flat, quiet vinyl. . For the price id certainly recommend it. It does capture the atmosphere of the venue very well. Cant imagine the Mofi sounding much better.

Edited 4 years agoThis might be the most "so sad" fan-fare of an amazing Re-issue album.. on about every level.. heavy 180 dead silent...Live.. Basie.. The "Prez".. I would love to hear what exactly the MoFi has over tis amazing re-issue... ReagaP3/24-Nagaoka MP200... I got it from Walmart online for under 10 dollars...crazy A Steal!!!

Edited 3 years agoGreat sounding reissue of Frank doing his thing at the Sands. Very impressed with the quality of this. Shiny heavy flat vinyl which is dead silent. Really captures the atmosphere of the Sands in the 60’s. When I purchased this, the mofi version was already deleted and going for around £400. I have listened to the mofi version and it doesn’t really sound any better than this one, in fact I couldn’t tell the difference.

Amazing album, feels like you're right there in the room at the Sands with Frank. HOWEVER, there are two big pits in the vinyl in my favorite song "One For My Baby." I purchased it brand new, still in shrink wrap, so i'm pretty disappointed. I wonder if anyone else has this same issue. I'm a pretty new collector but i've never come across such an obvious defect in a brand new record... two of them to be exact. It looks like someone smashed the needle into the vinyl. The record skips for 4 or 5 rotations because of them. Just be aware. A little bit of surface hiss but that blends in with the airiness of the live recording sound of the atmosphere so it's not bothersome at all. Aside form that it's a great sounding record. I would still buy it again.
