FYI a new re-press of this album seems to be making the rounds. Not on Merge's site but you can find at other retailers.
-
WITHOUT A DOUBT "Polvo" have awed music lovers and critics alike with their unique blend of experimental antimatter-pop that compares to no one else but themselves. Back in the early days when they were on the Merge label they sang a troubled beast with the vocal tracks pretty much obscured by the dervish of guitar and the pounding of vibracobra bass. Regardless of the indistinguishable verbiage, the bands temporal shifting of time sigs and the like - created a polyglotism.
'Exploded Drawing,' their first on a new label, finds the lyrics up front and discernible, while the whirling guitar transcends the listener to newer plateaus painting the skies with a translucent paint. Polvo have found their groove. Now all they have to do is exploit it. -
While "Today's Active Lifestyles" gets most of the attention, this is Polvo at their prime.
Their music enhanced by eastern influences, they dance like spiders on their psychedelic webs of sound.
Highly recommended!
