Edited 6 years agoAs soon as you clap eyes on it the faint blue 'Universal' text, it jumps out as wrong. There's no way a huge multinational corporation would allow their brand to be misrepresented in such a way. Multinationals are like that. Ruled by PR. -
to the multiple complaints "why is the 2LP a bootleg?" or claims like "the 2 LP is official" / "i have the 2LP from..."
Its very obvious and simple why this is a Bootleg
if you compare any other Universal vinyl release from that time frame you note the following fishy things:
• they use wrong font
• the matrix is very lousy hand etched and it includes an error on side D: there's a six instead a zero
• the matrix missing the usual Mastering references as it's on the other [official] 3121 related vinyls
• there is a "FBI Warning" on a UK release - FBI is a US service
• there is a "limited Edition" mention on the sticker
• the credits line mention "performed" instead of the usual [official] "Per4med"
• the blue universal logo printed on the labels is much smaller than on the other [official] 3121 related releases
• i asked my record store keeper (owner) from where he have the LP's and the answer was "not from official channels, otherwise i would have it in the books"
• some releases are a combination of the two releases and include one "US" & one "UK" disc into the same release...
all this in confrontation with the complete absence of a official statement by the record company (Universal and NPG Records) and 15 years too late a claim by a Photographer who believe (not swear or know, he believe*) he saw it in a Universal Office and a few fans and sellers who believe or "heard" something... - sorry
all that is not a reason to shoot the messenger (or block on FB and other platforms - unfortunately Paul blocked me on Facebook so i cant't link to the discussion anymore... funny is: other people who say the same like me are not blocked [yes: i asked them] - this is how fakenews works: sitting in a echo bubble and if someone say something you don't like even if it's the truth or worth to discuss block him...)
