Edited 3 months agoI think this reissue/repress sounds unbelievable. The instrumentation and vocals on Try Not to Breathe and Everybody Hurts (organ and strings) are just so well blended.

I just received my copy and it sound fantastic. I had the recent 25th anniversary edition that really disappointed me as it sounds somewhat digital in spite of being sourced from analog. I would have liked a US OG but it is out of my range. -
Certain tracks here have a beautiful staging to them, and I get the clear and crispness to the dynamics. It gets a little harsh for me in places. A little more balancing in the lower frequencies would have suited me. But yes, it’s a good sounding record for sure. Good separation between instrumentation. -
Absolutely unreal mastering & pressing. This LP is one of the best-sounding records i have ever heard. Sure, it's a great 'recording' but this vinyl is a showcase for any great stereo. Not to mention that it's one of the greatest goddamned REM album ever. -
I love this pressing. I sold my 1st pressing and kept this one. So clear and beautiful throughout. I can’t comment on the recent reissues 2015 2019 as I don’t have them. So if you want this album I would say go for this pressing. :-) -
Mine just seems a tad hot. Quieter songs like Star Me Kitten and Nightswimming are perfection, but there’s a bit of top end sibilance/distortion on the louder tracks.

Edited 9 years agoI have ordered this pressing. Very hard to find this album on vinyl in Sweden where i live. Best album of R.E.M i think. The price of the original pressing from 1992 in used condition if you find it at all in Sweden is at least €40-60. I hope this 1999 pressing sounds as great as the 1992 version. I imported this album in mint condition from Great Britian for £21.90 including shipping.
I know got the record. Very well sounding pressing!! -
