The New York singer Anastacia broke in 1999 with her debut album Not That Kind, of which in Europe and Asia as many as five million copies were sold. In her homeland America showed the audience a lot less sensitive to its sophisticated blend of funk, r&b and dance. Perhaps Anastacia her countrymen with this second album Freak Of Nature but still of very safe is a successor of the successful debut. Though there are a number of strong again single candidates on (Paid My Dues, Overdue), the surprise is there now. She initially still impress with the power and range of her voice, on Freak Of Nature becomes clear that they are not close to the expressiveness and the emotional depth of her obvious example Aretha Franklin. Anastacia can set up a nice throat but it remains a surrogate for real soul. Freak Of Nature is once again a smart produced record that will consolidate its hitstatus in Europe. But if Anastacia to the real big ones want to go, they will have to play less safe.
