My experience listening to STT is similar to the previous reviewer. Give it at least a couple of listens to let this music sink in and then get enthused.

First bought this album for $2 about a year ago after just knowing of the band, but not ever hearing them. I thinking the vocals were kind of weird and the instrumentals were just average kinda dc-esque post-hardcore and indie rock stuff. Kinda Jawbox sounding (not saying Jawbox is average tho). I eventually listened more and more and can say that this album is the definition of a "grower". On first listens the instrumentals can start out slow and even seem uninspired, but with each listen the nuances begin to come clear. Somewhat atonal guitar work and weird tempos and time changes set this apart from similar albums and bands of the era. The sort of dimented-yet accessible sound fits perfectly with Wedren's weirdo and kinda creepy vocals. He really came into his own on this album and pushed the record in a more artsy direction, despite this being the supposedly doomed first major-label release. Everything just works on this album. This sounds stupid, but the instrumentals almost sound like a robot trying to play some heartfelt rock, but it keeps glitching and returning to its weird, mechanical, and mathematical formula. It's so perfect with the strange vocal delivery, which range from whispers to full on Bowie-like belting. Go listen to this one, but do it like 10 times or so.
